Northern Business Star Awards

Formed by local enterprise agencies Tedco, PNE Enterprise, The Prince’s Trust and Newcastle Library’s Business & IP Centre, the Northern Business Star Awards (NBSA) exist to showcase the diverse and talented range of businesses we have here in the North East.

A stable, future-proof website

NBSA wanted a re-brand for its second year. Working alongside Bumble and Bloom Media, who produced content for the website and other pieces of NBSA literature, I designed and built a website around NBSA’s new logo. Consideration had to be taken to ensure the website was suitable for future events — nomination forms had to be in place, automatic emails had to be sent to nominees, and templates had to be in place so award winners could be updated each year.

Other roles

Throughout the project, I ended up adopting other roles besides simply building a website.

In the run up to the NBSA Launch Event, I was responsible for promotions to stir up interest for nominations. Part of this promotion was sending out a series of MailChimp campaigns to a targeted list, and managing an Eventbrite page alongside this. The event then saw a turnout of around 50 attendees, which led to a sharp increase in nominations afterwards.

Later on in the project, I was also tasked with designing promotional flyers, banner stands, beermats and event programmes for the 2016 awards ceremony, helping to establish the new NBSA brand across a variety of media.
